Written Objections Guidelines
WRITTEN OBJECTIONS TO PROPOSED ELECTORAL BOUNDARIES
Proposed boundaries have been released by the Electoral Distribution Commissioners.
Interested persons are now invited to submit any comments or objections to the proposed boundaries, the proposed names of electoral districts or any other relevant matter.
Objections to the proposals must be received at the Office of the Electoral Distribution Commissioners by 5.00 pm, Monday 30 July 2007.
To ensure an open process, all written objections will be made publicly available via this web site and at the premises of the Office of the Electoral Distribution Commissioners and the Western Australian Electoral Commission after the closing date.
Information to include in an objection
- Your name, address and contact telephone number (email, fax and after hours telephone numbers are also useful if we need to follow-up your submission)
- The electorate(s) to which your objection applies
- The reason(s) for your objection
- A suggested solution to address the issue(s) raised in your objection

- Matters to be duly considered by the Electoral Distribution Commissioners:
- community of interest
- land use patterns
- means of communication and distance from the capital
- physical features
- existing boundaries of regions and districts
- existing local government boundaries
- the trend of demographic changes
Your submission must take account of these criteria.
- The effect of a proposal or objection on neighbouring districts. If your recommended change affects other areas, the Commissioners will need to be satisfied that changes to those areas are also acceptable.
